Late work will not be tolerated. The deadlines for each assignment are absolute. Any assignment that is received late for any amount of time (even a few minutes) will not be examined by the instructor nor will it obtain credit. Technological trouble (i.e. computer or internet problems) is not an acceptable excuse for late work. It is highly recommended that students back up all work, including discussion posts. In the event that a technological problem arises, students may email work directly to me by the deadline.

Participation: [replace with personal discussion preferences, if any]
Join the class discussions frequently. I'll post one discussion question per week. In turn, all students will be required to:
- Post one answer to the weekly question (due every Wednesday by 11:55 p.m.).
- Respond to a total of two of your classmates’ (by Friday 11:55 p.m.).
- Read all of the postings each week.
Please note that all posts should add something significant to the topic at hand. You should avoid posts that simply compliment (e.g. "Interesting post!") or support (e.g. "I agree with you.") another student's work; you will not be given credit for these sorts of comments.
When attempting to communicate online, it can be easy to overlook the fact that you're talking in black and white ink or in a public discussion. Though I expect to have lively discussions in this course, personal attacks on another student of any kind is not acceptable. Students who engage in personal attacks will be subject to one of two courses of action:
- a score of zero for the week's discussion for the first offense
- a letter grade of "F" and/or dismissal from the class for repeated offenses.
If you have an issue with a classmate, please contact the instructor immediately. Do not confront the other student directly.
